Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Conneaut Valley Elementary School staff and I would like to welcome your children back to school for the 2010 - 2011 school year. We look forward to working with your child(ren), as we anticipate another productive, positive and rewarding school year!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Our school opens at 7:45 AM with classes beginning at 8:15 AM. PLEASE DO NOT DROP-OFF ANY STUDENTS AT CVES PRIOR TO 7:45 AM, UNLESS SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT. Understand we have no adult supervision until 7:45 AM. When dropping off your child(ren), please drop them off at the north end of the building at the main entrance to the school. DO NOT PARK OR DROP OFF YOUR CHILD(REN) IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. CHILDREN MUST ARRIVE TO SCHOOL NO LATER THAN 8:00 AM. AFTER 8:00 AM THEY ARE TARDY TO SCHOOL. If you are bringing your child(ren) to school after 8:00 AM, you must accompany them to the office, sign them in and provide an excuse. Should the need arise to pick-up your child(ren) from school, you are expected to sign them out in the office.

Instructional time ends at 2:50 PM, so we ask that you do not pick-up your child(ren) until dismissal time (2:55 PM or shortly thereafter). An emergency or doctor's appointment would be exceptions to this request. Remember, consistent attendance is extremely important to your child's success in school. Please take the time to read the attendance section of the Student/Parent Handbook.

SAFETY

For the safety of all students and staff, we request that all visitors enter the main entrance vestibule area, approach the Safe School entry door, wait for a member of the Office Team to release the door for you, enter the main office, sign-in, indicate your intent and obtain a visitor's pass. There are no exceptions to this expectation! We draw your attention to School Board Policies 907 (VISITOR’S POLICY) and 810 (TRANSPORTATION POLICY). Copies of these policies are on the district website. Please thoroughly review and understand these important policies.

PTO

The staff at Conneaut Valley Elementary School encourages your membership and participation in the PTO that meets the last Monday of the month at 7:00 PM in the library, (no meetings in May, June, July, August and December). Please support your child(ren) by getting involved in this outstanding organization!

In closing, I would like to encourage your support and help in making the 2010 - 2011 school year rewarding and memorable for your child(ren) and our staff. Do not hesitate to contact the school or access the CVES website should you have questions and/or concerns.
